Next Choice® is an effective emergency contraceptive option from Watson for “those unexpected times”. If taken within 72 hours (3 days) of unprotected sex, sexual attack, or a known or suspected contraceptive failure, this simple 2-tablet treatment can still prevent a pregnancy.

The sooner you take it, the better your chances for success.1

Next Choice is a generic product that contains levonorgestrel. It is pharmaceutically equivalent (bioequivalent) to the two tablet Plan B® product. Next Choice is available without a prescription for women 17 or older if you show your pharmacist a valid government-issued ID proving your age. If you are 16 or younger, a prescription is required.

You need to know that Next Choice should not be used as a substitute for birth control methods or as protection from sexually transmitted diseases.

Next Choice

  • is not an abortion pill (RU-486)
  • is not effective if you are already pregnant
  • does not offer protection from HIV (the AIDS virus) or other sexually transmitted diseases

Important Safety Information

Next Choice® is not effective if you’re already pregnant, and it will not terminate an existing pregnancy. Next Choice does not protect against HIV and other sexually transmitted diseases (STDs). Side effects may include nausea, abdominal pain, fatigue, headache, changes in your period, dizziness, and breast tenderness. If your period is more than a week late, you may be pregnant. If you have severe abdominal pain, you may have an ectopic pregnancy, and you should get immediate medical help.
