There are simply 2 tablets:
- The first should be taken within 72 hours of unprotected sex, sexual attack, or
a known or suspected contraceptive failure
- The second should be taken 12 hours after the first tablet is taken
It is essential that Next Choice is used as directed. The longer a woman waits to get started, the less effective it will be.1
Timing is key to your patients success – so keep Next Choice in stock
Make sure that Next Choice is available at your pharmacy so that it can be provided as soon as possible to help a woman's chance of preventing an unplanned pregnancy. When used as directed, a woman's chance of pregnancy can be reduced by more than 89% if it is taken within 72 hours (3 days) of unprotected sex, sexual attack, or a known or suspected contraceptive failure. A study demonstrated even greater efficacy when taken within 24 hours.1,2
So it is essential to stock Next Choice continually to assure it is immediately accessible. In fact, patients 16 years of age or younger may even have an advance prescription provided by their healthcare provider – since timing is such an important factor in preventing an unplanned pregnancy.
Important: If vomiting occurs within 1 hour of taking
Next Choice, only a healthcare provider can determine if a replacement dose will
be needed. It is very important that you advise your pharmacy customers to promptly
call their healthcare providers if this situation occurs.
Contraindications
Women should not take Next Choice if they have the following conditions:
- Known or suspected pregnancy
- Hypersensitivity to any component of the product
