Pharmacist Statement

As a pharmacist, one of the important roles I serve is providing my customers with information and recommendations regarding medications. When customers come in and ask me about emergency contraception, I tell them there are safe and effective products available over the counter for women 17 years of age and older. If you are under 17 years of age, you will need a prescription. One of these products is “Next Choice®”. Its dosing is simple - only 2 tablets. The first tablet should be taken as soon as possible within 72 hours (3 days). The second tablet should be taken 12 hours after the first tablet is taken. I also tell them some side effects may occur like nausea, vomiting, and/or bleeding and to consult their physician.
